Kendrick Lamar and J. Cole embarked on a wild new project in 2015 called “Black Friday,” and the fruits of their labor were revealed on November 28 — the day after Black Friday, fittingly! “Black Friday” is a crazy-ambitious track that makes it clear who Kendrick is in this world. The nearly four minute-long verse asserts that he’s doubly as great as Adele (“I’m rolling deep in that paper like two Adeles”), should be President Kanye West‘s running mate in 2020, and even comparing himself to magician David Blaine. Okay, we don’t really get why he included that last reference, but we’ll take it; he’s making sure we all know that he’s the greatest, and we kind of have to agree with him!
