Asamoah Gyan Will Retire From The Black Stars After 2019 AFCON

A Ghanaian professional footballer who plays as a striker for Kayserispor and captains the Ghanaian national team.

He’s come under a lot of criticisms for his inability to lead his team to the World Cup as a captain.

Many soccer critics have sent him to the cleaners with many calling for his retirement and this even led him to retort back by saying, only God can retire him from the Black Stars, something many Ghanaians did not take kindly to.

Finally, coach JE Sarpong who nurtured Asamoah Gyan to become who he is today announced that the Black Star’s Captain could retire from the National Team after the 2019 AFCON Cup.

In an interview with Atinka FM, Veteran Coach, JE Sarpong stated that,
I personally have told Gyan to retire from the Black Stars team, he has done a lot for the Nation and everyone knows that.

I spoke to him several times and he told me he wants to take the team to the Cup of Nations and call it a quit.

But I think is time for his to make a bow because he has paid his dues.
Asamoah Gyan holds the record as the most capped Black Stars player and the all-time top scorer for the National team with 51 goals.
