A teenage girl was found dead on a bench after her ‘drunk’ pals allegedly dumped her when she suffered heart failure then continued partying.
Paramedics arrived at the scene after the 16-year-old’s body was discovered by horrified passersby in St Petersburg, northern Russia, that night.
The girl, known only as Katya Sh, was pronounced dead, with a preliminary medical exam later finding she died of “heart failure induced by drugs”.
Police are now trying to establish whether she was already dead when she was allegedly abandoned on the bench, or if she could have been saved.
Investigators say they are examining a case of “involuntary manslaughter.”
The teenager – who died three days short of her 17th birthday – had reportedly told her parents she was going to a sleepover at a friend’s home.
However, she actually went to a teenage party in a block of flats, situated just a few yards away from where her body was later found.
One partygoer told local media that Katya collapsed shortly after taking drugs at the bash.
He claimed: “They all were drunk and high.
“They did not think any better than just to carry her away.”
He added: “They were afraid of being held responsible. Some of them are now pretending they were not even there.”
After allegedly dumping Katya on a bench, the partygoers returned to the bash and continued as if nothing had happened, according to reports.
A police investigator’s committee spokesman said: “There was a party in one of the flats. There were minors who consumed a lot of alcohol and drugs of unidentified type.”
He added: “According to preliminary medical exam the girl died of heart failure induced by drugs.”
