From time immemorial, there exist stories of men and women who grew above the normal human height — a phenomenon that has attracted several scientific terms, such as pituitary gigantism, eunuchoid tallness, acromegaly, and Sotos syndrome, just to name a few. And while we know of the world’s tallest living man, Sultan Kösen, what of Africa’s tallest men?
Known in public circles as “agoro,” Hafiz is considered the tallest man in Nigeria at the moment. Exceeding the average Nigerian height of 5 feet 4 1⁄2 inches by far, Hafiz remains a sight to see in his homeland of Nigeria. He resides in Akoka, a suburb of Yaba in Lagos State.
