A young New Hampshire mother has been arrested on a murder charge in the death of her toddler daughter.Authorities say Saturday that 22-year-old Katlin Paquette was arrested on a second-degree murder charge, accused of recklessly causing the death of Sadence Willott.Authorities say the 21-month-old girl suffered a fatal brain injury; the medical examiner ruled her death a homicide caused by blunt impact head injuries.
‘This was not an accident,’ said Senior Assistant Attorney General Benjamin J. Agati, according to theBoston Herald.Police responded to a call to their home Sept. 5 and found the child unresponsive. She was taken to a hospital, where she died the next day.The subsequent autopsy revealed an horrific trauma had been inflicted on Sadence, according to Deputy Chief Medical Examiner Jennie V. Duval.Specifically, Sadence died of ‘blunt impact head injuries,’ New Hampshire Attorney General Joseph A. Foster revealed in a statement.
The second-degree murder complaint charges Paquette with recklessly causing the death of Sadence Willott, under circumstances manifesting extreme indifference to the value of human life,’ Foster said. ‘She recklessly caused SadenceWillott’s death through an application of physical force causing Sadence to suffer a fatal brain injury.’According to Agati, there are firsthand accounts that will be used to prove Paquette’s guilt in addition to the forensic evidence.’There were other witnesses who saw theminteract both before and after but I can’t gointo specifics,’ he said.Paquette is to be arraigned Monday.
