Rapper Big Paybacc Killed: Could His Murder Be An Act Of Revenge
Was this a hip hop beef gone wrong?
Rapper Big Paybacc was reportedly shot and killed while he was eating lunch inside a McDonald’s on Thursday afternoon in Palmdale, California.
According to the L.A. County Sheriff’s Department, a suspect walked into the restaurant and shot the rapper, born Habeeb Ameer Zekajj, killing him with just one shot.
Lt. John Corina told CBS Los Angeles, “There was no altercation that they [witnesses] saw. This guy just walked in through one door, shot him and left out another door. So it looked like something personal. He had something against this individual. It wasn’t like he shot up the McDonald’s. He just shot him and left.”
The incident occurred at 12:30 P.M. when the rapper was having lunch. There were 15 other people inside the restaurant when the shooting took place, and no one else was injured.
Big Paybacc’s girlfriend, Jessica Jefferson, said she saw her boyfriend right before the tragic incident. She suspects his death was an act of revenge.
“I just knew it,” she told CBS. “I drove by and saw his truck. I had just seen him. He left my house to come here.”
Jefferson is baffled at how someone could be so ruthless to not only take someone’s life, but do it in a public place in front of so many people. “For them to be that bold to run up to someone in a McDonald’s in daylight, in front of people, kids, you know, and to just take some kind of vengeance on somebody, it’s, it’s inhumane,” she said.
Sadly, the 38-year-old lyricist left behind three children.
Paybacc was known for songs like “I’m Frum Gangstaz” and “BMF (Bury My Foes)” — but he’s probably best known for his 2011 cut “Gangsta Luv,” which has received over a quarter of a million views on YouTube to date.
