‘Shatta Wale Is A Thief He Stole My Song’ – Artiste Alleges

First day of the audition of Kapital Radio’s rap competition, King of the Mic was not without a controversy as one of the contestants alleged that the 2014 Artist of the year Shatta Wale stole his song ‘Obia bogga beba’.

The underground rapper, who goes by the name Firikyiwa, said one of Shatta Wale’s hit songs ‘Bogga beba’ was his song.

He went on to say that he performed alongside Shatta Wale at Vienna City here in Kumasi, where he believes his most-adored song titled ‘Obia bogga beba’ was stolen by the dancehall king.

“I was invited to perform at Shatta Wale’s show at the Vienna City. I remember I performed this ‘Obia bogga beba’ song and after the show almost all the people present at the venue applauded me for such a nice song including Shatta Wale, who was the main artist of the day. He even promised to help promote me in my musical carrier so I taught my prayers had been answered at that very moment”. He explained.

The Santasi based underground rapper also noted that the commendation from the crowd that day urged him to start performing with that particular song on almost every show he attended, “six months later I received the shock of my life as I heard this same song I’ve been performing, fully reproduced by Shatta Wale.
The next minute I received a phone call from Dj Alonso of Boss Fm, who was accusing me of selling the song to Shatta Wale, but I just told him the truth that even the phone number he (Shatta Wale) gave me has not been going through”. He said.

Firikyiwa further disclosed in an exclusive interview with Kapital Radio’s Precious Adusi Poku Thursday after day one of the King of the Mic audition that though he was worried after hearing the reproduced song for the first time, he has nothing against Mr. Charles Nii Armah Mensah Jnr. known with the stage name Shatta Wale.

“I’m never bothered at all; I knew it was a challenge for me to even do more. Doing music rap in Kumasi has become uneasy these days but I must commend Kapital Radio for what they are doing to unearth and also promote talents within the city and across the region.

I now have several great songs than that of the ‘Obia bogga beba’ song which was stolen by Shatta Wale and you should watch out for them soon.” He added.

Meanwhile, King of the Mic is talent reality show aimed at unearthing and also promoting talents in area of rap music day two of the audition will come off between 6:30 and 7pm today and the competition itself will commence on Saturday, August 27, 2016.
